why is momivate a non-profit organization?

Moms have a major responsibility in nourishing their offspring, society’s up-and-coming leaders, employees, and citizens. This is a huge duty, and moms are the front-line, giving so much of themselves to this role: their time, their emotional energy, their sanity!
Momivate feels that moms should *not* be asked to give their money on top of these other sacrifices. No one else can adequately provide those other things on behalf of the mother... but money to run a service that will make a mom’s job more satisfying and less stressful CAN come from other sources, so that’s our goal!

Moms are not given monetary compensation for their role as moms, so asking them to provide the money to increase their mothering skills is like asking an infant to provide its own breastmilk! Even if moms have income from a job outside the realm of motherhood, there are so many other places for that money to go (and it is often to places related to other people, not herself -- so there she is, giving again). We want to set up a system where she is the recipient, not the giver.

By offering valuable tools to mothers that enable them to accomplish the maternal duties more effectively and enjoyably, we are showing due gratitude and supporting them in a way that increases their job satisfaction levels. It’s not a trophy-style token of appreciation that just glimmers then gathers dust on a shelf! This is the kind of recognition that makes an effort to compensate for the indebtedness society has towards mothers.
