Have you ever been inspired by your laundry detergent?!
Here at Momivate, we looked at this Pod and saw the Yin and the Yang (an ancient Chinese concept of opposing forces complimenting each other to make a whole)... and we got to thinking...
Sometimes motherhood feels like the opposing force to self-fulfillment! You either raise your children OR you follow your dreams. Inspired by Yin/Yang fusion, Momivate presents a happy compromise called MomPods -- giving MORE of YOU to BOTH your children AND yourself!!
MomPods are based on the idea that moms can unite as “MomPanions” to remove the stress of motherhood by taking turns in each other's homes, alternating one mom getting to focus on her work or hobby, while the other mother supervises the children.
We are confident that MomPods will solve the childcare crisis and Mom guilt will be swept away! Plus, moms will fill their own needs for friendship, all while getting some work done in each other's homes. It's time to stop being a "stay-at-home" mom and become a MomPanion, instead!

MomPods
This is a group of 2-3 mothers -- MomPanions -- who collaborate to provide mom-centric care for their children while also preserving time & sanity for part-time career, homemaking, and other hobbies!
WHY? Because children need their moms and their moms need support.
MomPods: a revolutionary idea that seeks to prioritize and preserve the crucial relationship between mother and child while the mother also develops her talents & skills and gets some social time as well. This honors the needs of both the child and the mother, granting them both a situation that leads to the best possible outcomes in their growth, stability, and mental health. Your decision to "stay-at-home" to raise your children is commendable, and MomPods reduces some of the associated challenges, such as "staying-at-home" and not having co-workers to share the work.
MomPods provide a lower adult-to-child ratio than daycare, costs nearly nothing, has fewer germs, can significantly lower stress levels, and moms cooperate together to provide consistency in how their children are cared for.
In contrast with daycare, MomPods are better for:
- the budget,
- naps,
- breastfeeding,
- stress levels,
- germs, and
- concerns over quality of care provided.
It also fills the maternal need for interaction with another adult and time to gain and retain a sense of self.
In a MomPod, MomPanions take turns: one acts as the “first responder” while the other gets to stay focused on developing a hobby or skill -- keeping an ear out for when needs arise such as tantrums, poop-splosions, or nursing. The MomPanion who gets to concentrate on a project is called the Focused Mum. The first responder, called the Kids Mum, provides supervision for all of the children -- but this isn't too stressful because the Focused Mum is just in the next room, so when one of her children needs her, the Kids Mum can ask the Focused Mum to take a quick break and deliver the needed care until the child is ready to join the group again.
We have created worksheets to help you create a MomPod and decide together certain logistics, including:
- what the general schedule will be (what time the Focused Mum arrives at and leaves the Kids Mum’s home; what time snacks, lunch, and quiet time will be, etc).
- The goals of the Pod in general -- can be more than one -- such as companionship, growth in parenting skills, a chance for each mom to get a break, a chance for each mom to work on career, hobbies, online classes, etc…
- Expectations about things such as changing diapers and potty training, purchasing food items in advance,
- How long the role rotations will last: will I be Kids Mum every other day over a four day week (once the easing-in period is complete?) or will I be Kids Mum two days in a row and then Focused Mum the other two days? If we have 3 MomPanions, how will we rotate effectively?
- Are there issues we can foresee that we want to address from the get go?
The MomPod Packet helps you address these and other questions so that your MomPod is structured for success!
